A lot of folks (for good reason) just want a simple, easy recipe to follow. A berry blend is pretty classic, and it’s so easy to pick up frozen mixes!
At this point I still wasn’t steadily using nutrient additions, which I do highly recommend for better results! This is another one I would definitely try again, BUT I would amend it instead of just adding the fruit and calling it good. I believe with more acid/tannin balancing this holds a lot of promise!
If you are brand new to mead-making however, and you just want to make a super simple, easy recipe to get going in this hobby, by all means create the way I did! I’ve grown a lot as a mead-maker, but there are still many ways to grow and get better.
This mead did age out really well, it became very complex over time. It’s pretty amazing how mead ages and develops. One of the really fun things about this craft!
The following is the recipe with some recommended actions included. You can get as simple or complex with mead as you would like, and I’m certainly not as thorough I could be when it comes to balancing recommendations and additives at pitch to improve your brew.
